This was the opening tournament of the year. The Big D is a good opening tournament for all you martial artist that would like to try competition. My students have been fighting this tournament for over 18 years. Karate is safe and a family sport. Men women and children compete in point karate.

The video above is a few highlights of a few students trying their skills in a open tournament. Which means they fight all comers that show up to compete.

If your school does not compete or only spars within the school the ask yourself why? Who is being protected? The income of the owner? The credibility or lack thereof of the school that trains you.

If you get belt ranking and don't compete at each belt rank then you achievement level is low. You and others will always question your credibility.

The same is true for our educational system in the USA. We are ranked low in Dallas Texas as well the world. The reason is entitlement. Just because you train for a certain length of time does not give you the right to wear a belt.

You have to prove it to yourself first. Competition is the only way.

Americans have gotten soft, We let jobs go over seas and illegal's take our jobs at home. Sometimes you have to look at reality verses money. Credibility you cannot buy. You have to earn it.
